The three most important things for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) are PageTitles, URLs and Page Content. In some cases where a page is more image than text based a Description can be useful. Typo3 is great for SEO in each of these aspects:
- PageTitles are a required field for every page
- Descriptive URLs are generated (e.g. twkmedia.com/help/cms/typo3/typo3-manual/page-content/)
- Page Content can be easily changed and kept fresh (Google loves a page that changes frequently)
- Descriptions can be added through the Page Properties of an Advanced page type
Creating more descriptive Pagetitles
To make a page title in the title bar of your browser more descriptive than simply "My Site: Home" - without affecting the appearance of the page title in the front end of the website (e.g. in Menus, Headings etc.), use the Keywords field for a more descriptive text (Advanced page type required).
- Web > Page
- Select page
- Edit page properties
- Select Advanced page type
- Enter descriptive text in Keywords field
Adding a Description
To add a page description:
- Web > Page
- Select page
- Edit page properties
- Select Advanced page type
- Enter description text in Description field
